SCOUTCAST Wrap-up: NCDC Boston Advantage v Twin City Thunder

Game Info

A mid-week match-up between two teams that not only have put together great NCDC teams, but also have a significant youth presence and are heavily invested in the future of hockey. Some players who could very well be the future of hockey at the college level and beyond put their skills on display at the first ever presentation of The Dan K Show’s Scoutcast.

Boston Advantage

#24 RD Conor Lally: At 5’7” 170lbs, Conor Lally is an ‘02 defenseman who skates with power both on and off the puck. Playing confidently through neutral ice, Conor is able to effectively shut down opposing offensive drives even if outmatched in numbers. He can also run at offensive speeds to get involved in the scoring game, putting up two assists in back-to-back games against the Northern Cyclones on October 14th, and against the Islanders Hockey Club on October 15th. He is currently on a 4-game points streak.

#33 G Nicholas Bevilaqua: Bevilaqua saved 22 of 26 shots against the Twin City Thunder. Bevilaqua has a knack for using angles and positioning to make tough saves look easy but can still make the “flashy save when called upon. Solid work with the catching glove is a big strength for Bevilaqua, forcing teams to find other ways to try to beat him. Bevilaqua is 7-2-0 on the season, with a 2.74 GAA and a .926 SV%, at the time of publishing.

#18 C Jacob Bigras: Jacob is a left-handed ‘02 that bridges the gap between size and speed at the centerman position. In the October 12th game against the Twin City Thunder, Jacob had an assist on both Advantage goals, both times as part of a highly effective power play unit responsible for both goals on the day. Bigras was able to send and receive the puck with ease, often helping to keep zone possession alive as his team battled for looks in front of net. Bigras also sports a 3.9 GPA, making him an excellent recruiting target across the board

 Twin City Thunder

#5 RW Trace Norwell: A 5’7” 160lbs forward, Trace is now in his second year with the Twin City Thunder. After putting up 32 points in 48 games (13G/19A), trace has already hit 15 points (8G/7A) through 16 games, on pace to eclipse his previous season marks. Trace has developed into a complete player who is able to exploit defenses for big games. Trace is defined by Coach Hodge as a hard worker who is always willing to learn more each day at the rink, and is consistently one of the fastest skaters on the ice both with and without the puck.

#8 LW Richard “Ricky” Davis: Ricky is an ’02 with size, and is able to leverage all of his 6’3” 190lbs frame to impose his will on the defense. While players at his size might traditionally not be known for their hands, Ricky has always impressed coaches and scouts with his puck handling skills, showcased well in the October 12th game against the Boston Advantage where he notched one goal and one assist. Ricky is an “immediate impact” player who can make a difference on any roster the next level.

#11 LD Blake Tierney: Captain for the Twin City Thunder, Blake is a returning player from last season. With 10 points (1G/9A) through 14 games, Blake has almost scored more points through the season than he had through 33 games last season (1G/13A/14PTS). Blake is a team leader, someone who leads by example, and described as a person who is in high demand as a “playing partner”. In big moments, count on Blake to make an impact play that can change the course of the game. Showing improvements in puck handling, Blake is someone who can fit into any system effectively.
